Founded in 2020, Eight Continents Hotels & Resorts has rapidly emerged as a visionary player in the global hospitality industry. Under the leadership of Mr. Haninder Sachdeva, CEO, the company has grown from a boutique consulting firm into a full-scale hotel ownership and management group with operations across the UK, India, Africa, and the Middle East. With a strong emphasis on cultural authenticity, adaptive strategies, and guest-centric innovation, Eight Continents is setting new benchmarks for modern hospitality. In this exclusive interview, Mr. Sachdeva shares insights into the brand’s journey, its signature Performance Partnership Model, and the inspiration behind the newly launched Legacy Hotels Collection, which blends historic charm with contemporary luxury.
Can you provide some background on Eight Continents Hotels & Resorts and its journey since its establishment in 2020?
Eight Continents Hotels & Resorts was founded in 2020 with a simple but powerful vision — to create a global hospitality company that delivers exceptional value while offering authentic, culturally rooted experiences. What began as a boutique consulting firm quickly evolved into a full-scale hotel management and ownership company, with operations spanning the UK, India, and now expanding into Africa and the Middle East.
Despite launching during a globally challenging time for the industry, we used that period to build strong operational foundations, focus on adaptive management models, and acquire high-potential properties. Our strategy blends traditional hospitality values with modern operational efficiency — making us a trusted partner for both hotel owners and investors. Today, our growing portfolio includes a mix of heritage, resort, and urban hotels that reflect our core belief: every stay should feel like a bucket-list experience.
Innovation seems to be a core aspect of your approach to hotel management. Could you elaborate on a specific instance where you introduced a creative solution to address a significant challenge in the industry, and how it impacted the outcome?
One of our most successful innovations was born out of necessity — during the pandemic, when many independent hotels struggled with distribution and revenue management. Instead of offering a generic management contract, we created a Performance Partnership Model, where our revenue and incentive were directly tied to the topline growth we generated.
In one instance, we took over a struggling countryside property in the UK with limited digital presence. Within six months, we implemented a dynamic pricing strategy, launched targeted campaigns in overseas travel markets, and restructured OTA and direct booking channels. As a result, the hotel’s occupancy tripled, ADR increased by over 30%, and it reached profitability within its first full operating year under our management. This model is now a blueprint for many of our new contracts.
Given your international exposure, how do you adapt your ideas to different cultural contexts and market dynamics, and what role does this play in driving success for both your clients and your company?
Cultural context is not just a consideration — it’s a competitive advantage. At Eight Continents, we design every hotel’s identity around its cultural fabric. What resonates with a guest in South India might not connect with a traveler in the Scottish Highlands.
To navigate this, we rely heavily on local talent, community partnerships, and extensive market research. For example, in India, we introduced heritage-led hospitality programs in palaces and forts to cater to both luxury domestic travelers and global explorers. In Guernsey, we created tailored packages targeting Indian and Southeast Asian wedding markets — something previously untapped in that region. This approach ensures authenticity and allows us to build resonance across markets while achieving strong commercial outcomes.
The hospitality industry is constantly evolving. How do you stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies, and how do you incorporate these into your management approach to ensure your company remains competitive?
Staying ahead requires a two-fold strategy: proactive observation and agile execution. We closely monitor global hospitality trends, from experiential travel to AI-driven guest personalization, and we work with a network of tech partners to test innovations in real-time across our properties. Internally, we have embraced tools like Mapal Flow to standardize staff training and performance, adopted cloud-based PMS and CRM systems to optimize guest journeys, and use data analytics to make real-time rate and marketing decisions. But beyond tech, we remain deeply human in our approach — encouraging curiosity, creativity, and guest-centricity at every level of the organization.
Your company, Eight Continents Hotels & Resorts, emphasizes a commitment to delivering exceptional value and memorable experiences. How do you ensure this across such a diverse portfolio?
We believe a memorable experience doesn’t always have to be expensive — but it must be meaningful. Our “bucket list” philosophy drives everything from design to service delivery. We train our teams not just to provide service, but to create stories. Whether it’s a heritage walk hosted by a local historian, a chef’s table using regional produce, or a surprise room upgrade on a guest’s anniversary — we focus on emotional connection.
Operationally, we measure success through a mix of guest feedback, employee satisfaction, and owner ROI. We also conduct regular audits through mystery audits and internal benchmarking to ensure consistency while allowing each property the freedom to express its unique character.
