Arabian Travel Market 2023 (ATM) Kicks Off in Dubai to Shape Sustainable Travel Industry

The 30th edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) opened today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together government officials and industry leaders from the Middle East and beyond to explore the future of sustainable travel. This year’s event, themed ‘Working Towards Net Zero’, will run from Monday, 1 May to Thursday, 4 May, and feature a range of interviews, panel discussions, and debates focused on the industry’s role in addressing climate change.

Ministerial Debate: How Should Travel Tackle the Climate Crisis?

To kick off ATM 2023, a selection of regional policymakers will take to the ATM Global Stage to explore the sector’s role in addressing climate change. The ‘Ministerial Debate: How Should Travel Tackle the Climate Crisis?’ will feature insights from Sujit Mohanty, Chief of the UNDRR Regional Office for the Arab States; HE Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy; Dr Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, Managing Director, Jordan Tourism Board; and HE Walid Nassar, Lebanon’s Minister of Tourism. The debate will provide a valuable platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities faced by the travel industry in achieving sustainability goals.

Hospitality Debate: What More Can Big Data Unlock?

Representatives from the Global Hotel Alliance, General Hotel Management Pte Ltd, Marriott, and Hotelbeds will take to the ATM Travel Tech Stage to discuss how technological advances are facilitating a better understanding of guest behaviours. The ‘Hospitality Debate: What More Can Big Data Unlock?’ will explore how data analytics can be used to provide personalized experiences for guests while also improving operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

Sustainability Hub: Responsible Hospitality for a Better World

The brand-new Sustainability Hub will host a session titled ‘Responsible Hospitality for a Better World’, featuring senior figures from Weeva, the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (SHA), My Green Butler, Tourism Seychelles, Radisson RED, and RHG. The session will explore sustainable transformation and its potential to improve the industry’s economic, social, and environmental impact.

ATM Sustainable Stand Award

As part of its commitment to delivering sustainable events, ATM 2023 will be unveiling a dedicated sustainability pledge designed to promote the use of environmentally friendly materials and eliminate single-use plastics. This year’s show will also feature the inaugural ‘ATM Sustainable Stand Award’, recognizing exhibitors who demonstrate a commitment to sustainability through their stand design and construction.

International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Arabia

In addition to the ATM Global Stage, the ATM Travel Tech Stage, and the Sustainability Hub, this year’s show will see the return of the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Arabia, which will explore trends and opportunities within the burgeoning field of high-end tourism.
