Unveiling the North East Cultural Festival

Delhi Tourism, a key player in preserving and promoting cultural heritage, collaborated with the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) to host a captivating two-day North East Cultural Festival on the 16th and 17th of December 2023 at the iconic Central Park, Connaught Place, Delhi.

Day One: A Symphony of Folk Dances and Musical Delights

The inaugural day it featured mesmerizing folk dance performances, including Rikhampada from Arunachal Pradesh, Bihu Naach from Assam, Lai Haraoba from Manipur, Wangala from Meghalaya, and enchanting musical performances by Divine Connection and a Rock Band from Nagaland. The choreographed folk dance spectacle titled “Colours of North-East India” left the audience in awe, as each performance resonated with the region’s soul.

Day Two: Distinguished Guests and Cultural Splendors

On the second day, the esteemed Sh. As the Chief Guest, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, graced the occasion. Accompanying him were distinguished dignitaries, including Mrs. Niharika Rai (MD & CEO, DTTDC), Mrs. Geetika Sharma (General Manager, DTTDC), and Dr. Prashanna Gogoi (Director, NEZCC). The event showcased captivating dance performances, such as Chhei Lam and Cheraw from Mizoram, Njanta from Nagaland, Tamang Selo from Sikkim, and Hojagiri from Tripura. The musical brilliance of ‘6 Strings’ from Assam and another rendition of the choreographed folk dance “Colours of North East India” added to the evening’s charm.

A Grand Finale and a Promise for the Future

The festival culminated with the heartfelt distribution of certificates to the performers, and a group photo captured the memories of the event. A promise echoed through the air—the next rendezvous at the ‘Western Musical Carnival,’ scheduled to unfold at Kala Gram, Garden of Five Senses, from the 22nd to the 25th of December 2023. Enthusiasts are encouraged to tailor their schedules for an unforgettable experience, immersing themselves in the magic of Western music.
