Mumbai:  Good news for the many thousands of Indians who travel to Belgium, both for leisure and for business. From now on, Belgian’s leading airline Brussels Airlines connects Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Airport to Brussels Airport with a direct flight.
Brussels Airlines’ inaugural flight SN601 landed at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Airport in the late hours of March 30. As a special gesture for its customers, the departure of the first flight out of Mumbai, flight SN602, was celebrated with a ribbon and cake cutting ceremony.
Since one year ago, there was no longer a direct connection by air between India and Belgium. The demand from various industries (pharmaceutical, diamond, maritime amongst others), from leisure travelers and cargo forwarders for a direct service was high. With its 5 weekly services, Brussels Airlines now offers a smooth link to the European capital.

The flights depart in the morning and arrive late in the evening in Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Flights leave Mumbai on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night and arrive in Brussels early the next morning.
“Our new service received a warm welcome here in the Indian market. We see very encouraging booking results for travel to Belgium and many destinations beyond Brussels like Canada, the States, the UK, Spain, France and several African destinations,” Patrick Roofthooft, Brussels Airlines Director India and Commercial Development.

On its Mumbai flights Brussels Airlines combines Belgian and Indian hospitality in its catering, its movie selection and even in its crew composition. The airline hired Indian cabin crew members to cater to the needs of their Indian guests on the Mumbai flights. They will work hand in hand with the airline’s Belgium-based crew members.
