30th Garden Tourism Festival at Garden of Five Senses from February 17 to 19

New Delhi: Delhi Tourism is all set to host 30th Garden Tourism Festival from February 17 to 19, 2017 at Garden of Five Senses, Said-Ul-Ajaib Village, M.B. Road (Near Saket Metro Station). The festival will be inaugurated  on February 17, 2017 by  Mr. Kapil Mishra, Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Delhi.
Delhi Tourism has been organizing this three day extravaganza for almost three decades now and showcases variety of flora and fauna which will charm garden enthusiasts.
The three-day extravaganza is themed on ‘Skills in Gardening’ this year. Besides, the venue spread over 22 acres will provide a space for public leisure and the sprawling gardens filled with innumerable flowers will make for an unforgettable sight will set the city ablaze with a riot of colourful flowers.
This annual festival presents floral displays, theme gardens, horticultural demonstrations and other activities. The festival showcases variety of flowers, potted plants, bonsai, etc. All the exhibits during GTF are evaluated by the judges from respective horticulture area.
The venue for Garden of Five Senses is indeed a special one, which corresponds to the essence of the three day festival. This serene place has various attractions such as court of palm, court of cacti, herbal gardens, tree museum, Topiary gardens, Zen gardens, aromatic gardens, butterfly zone and Terrariums.
The highlight of this year festival is 3D street art.  The 3D street painting, produces three-dimensional impressions on a two-dimensional horizontal surface. This new art form of street painting has been gaining in importance all around the globe and is disseminated by numerous artists. This art appeals to a very large audience- where onlookers can pose in a logical connection with the pavement art image to get photographed or filmed.
The theme for this year’s festival i.e. “Skills in Gardening” entirely focuses upon participants displaying their creativity and awareness with respect to Gardening and also narrates about an important role gardening plays in our life like:-
Health Benefits – Gardening is no lesser than an exercise and it helps in regulating weight, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol level, reducing stress levels, etc.
Environmental Benefits – Gardening also helps to reduce toxic particulates from the air and thus helps in reducing the pollution level and hence leads to environmental upgradation. Besides environmental benefits, gardening also helps in sustaining flora & fauna, rainwater harvesting, leads to reduction of greenhouse gases, absorbs excess of Carbon di-oxide from air and releass oxygen inturn, etc.
The Garden Tourism Festival is a great platform for Garden lovers to meet, interact and showcase their fruit of labor.  There will be competitions organized in 30 categories such as potted plants, Dahlia, Hanging Baskets, Foliages Plants, Cactus and Succulents, Aromatic / Herbal and Medicinal Plant, Bonsai Plants of different specifications, Bougainvillea, Floral Animal, Tray Garden, Theme Garden, Annual cut flowers in earthen vases, Vegetables Flower Decoration, Flower arrangements and roses etc.
