100 crores vaccinations, a landmark step for Indian tourism revival, says FAITH Associations

All of the FAITH Associations have consistently raised concerns like as fiscal and taxation support from the Central Government, monetary support from the RBI, regulatory help from the State Government, and policy support from the Ministry of Tourism

FAITH, the policy federation of all national associations representing India’s entire tourism, travel, and hospitality industry (ADTOI, ATOAI, FHRAI, HAI, IATO, ICPB, IHHA, ITTA, TAAI, TAFI), expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for leading a national effort involving all levels of government, Members of Parliament and State Legislatures, and, most importantly, all vaccine warriors, to achieve a landmark 100.

According to FAITH, rebuilding faith in both travellers and tourist service providers will be the most crucial step in starting the restoration of Indian tourism, travel, and hospitality.

Over the last 18 months, all FAITH Associations have been engaging with all stakeholders of the national and state governments, parliamentarians, and institutions such as the Parliamentary Committee, RBI, Niti Aayog, and others to extend support for the survival and revival of the Indian Tourism, Travel, and Hospitality Industry.

Prior to the pandemic, Indian tourism handled about 11 million international inbound tourists, nearly 17 million foreign visitor arrivals, nearly $30 billion in forex, 2.3 billion domestic tourism visits, and nearly 27 million outbound travellers.

The entire Indian Tourism Value Chain comprising travel agents, hotels, tour operators, tourist transporters, restaurants, and other tourism service providers has been shut down since February end / March 2020, causing great financial misery for the last 18 months. In March 2020, FAITH Associations predicted that this pandemic will threaten an estimated 5 crore employment and about 15 lakh crores in economic damage, both direct and indirect.

“Presidents and ECs of all FAITH member associations have been relentlessly jointly along with Min. of Tourism in one voice, engaging with national & state Governments on support to tourism, travel & hospitality industry of India . We are thankful to the PM for leading an unprecedented joint national team effort in such trying times to reach the 100 crores vaccination which will be the inflection point for restart to a healthy Indian tourism, travel & hospitality industry and will provide it with its rightful socio-economic contribution in Indian economy and on the world stage , said Nakul Anand, Chairman FAITH on behalf of all board of directors of FAITH

These have included, among other things, GST tax holidays, interest-free/low-interest loans with multi-year principle and interest moratoriums, e-visa fee waivers, waivers of statutory liabilities such as provident fund, ESI, and licence fee, power and utility tariffs, interstate tourist transportation taxes, underwriting of travel agent losses, and the abolition of TCS.
