In an effort to promote sustainable travel, WelcomHeritage Hotels has partnered with SunFuel Electric, a leading player in the EV charging industry, to install EV charging stations across its hotels in India. The joint venture of ITC Ltd. and Jodhana Heritage Resorts Pvt. Ltd. has taken a significant step towards achieving its sustainability goals by encouraging responsible driving holiday itineraries.
The signing ceremony in Delhi NCR
The agreement signing ceremony was held in Delhi NCR between Ms Gul Panag, Co-Founder at SunFuel and Mr Abinash Manghani, CEO of WelcomHeritage. During the ceremony, Mr Manghani shared details of the initiative and future plans. He stated that by the end of the year, the hospitality brand aims to offer its guests responsible drivable itineraries from Delhi to its properties in Panchkula, Kasauli, Solan, and Shimla.
The feasibility and convenience of electric vehicles
WelcomHeritage’s guests will enjoy the convenience of EV charging stations, making their travel up to the destinations stress-free and enjoyable. The brand’s CEO emphasized the importance of sustainability and the role of electric vehicles in responsible travel. SunFuel Electric’s Co-Founder Gul Panag added, “We congratulate WelcomHeritage on their decision of becoming EV-friendly. Electric road trips are going to be all the more exciting now!”
Destination charging is an important pillar of EV charging
According to Sudhir Nayak, Founder & CEO of SunFuel Electric, destination charging is an essential part of EV charging infrastructure. “If we have to catalyse the adoption of high-end electric vehicles in India, then luxury hotels and resorts need to be equipped with a seamless Destination Charging Experience. At SunFuel, we are striving to create that experience at scale.” SunFuel’s CEO stressed the importance of high-visibility charging infrastructure to encourage people to adopt electric cars.
EV charging stations in popular driving holiday routes
WelcomHeritage Parv Vilas Resort & Spa in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, already has an operational charging station. The hospitality brand plans to cover the popular driving holiday route that runs through Himachal Pradesh, from Chandigarh via Kasauli and Solan to Shimla. EV charging stations will soon be installed at all WelcomHeritage properties along these destinations.
EV charging stations in other locations
In addition, EV charging stations will also be installed at WelcomHeritage Cheetahgarh Resort & Spa in Jawai, Rajasthan, and WelcomHeritage Tadoba Vanya Villas Resort & Spa in Tadoba National Park, Maharashtra. This initiative marks a significant milestone towards achieving the hospitality brand’s sustainability goals and promoting responsible travel in India.
