In an exciting collaboration, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and AIS 5G have unveiled the much-anticipated ‘Welcome Back to Thailand’ campaign. This initiative introduces the ‘Amazing Thailand SIM’ card, offering a one-day trial of 8GB high-speed internet and an array of travel benefits, heralding the forthcoming peak tourist season. The campaign is set to delight travellers from October 17, 2023, to March 31, 2024.

Rediscovering Thailand’s Allure

Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and the South Pacific, highlighted the campaign’s alignment with the Thai government’s swift strategies to boost tourism income. These strategies include streamlining visa application procedures, waiving visa fees for tourists, and fostering ease of travel. Collaborating with AIS 5G and other partners underscores the TAT’s commitment to expanding collaborations and embracing digital transformation.

A Flourishing 2023

Thailand has already extended a warm welcome to 20.3 million foreign visitors in 2023, with the majority hailing from Asia-Pacific markets such as China, Malaysia, and India. In addition to the recent five-month visa exemption for Chinese and Kazakhstani nationals, from September 25, 2023, to February 29, 2024, the TAT is capitalizing on the growth potential of the Asia-Pacific markets. They aim to enhance visitors’ experiences by providing communication systems and digital services through the ‘Amazing Thailand SIM’ card.

The Digital Evolution

AIS conducted a study on tourist behaviour, which revealed a surging preference for digital channels in all aspects of travel, including financial transactions, accommodation bookings, shopping, and public utilities. Digital nomads are increasingly factoring in superior infrastructure and fast internet access when choosing a destination for both work and leisure.
