Uttarakhand govt. to protect interests of those involved in adventure tourism activities: Chief Minister

[dropcap]D[/dropcap]ehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat has said that the state government is studying the high court orders regarding ban on adventure tourism activities. He said that next step in this regard would be taken after studying all the aspects of the case. He said that the interests of all the entrepreneurs and people associated with adventure tourism activities will be protected by the state government. He directed Secretary, Tourism to look into all the legal aspects of the high court orders and take appropriate action.
Chief Minister Mr. Rawat said that tourism is a strong base of the economy of the state and effective steps are being taken to promote adventure tourism besides tourism. He said interests of the entrepreneurs involved with adventure tourism will be taken care. He said that keeping in view the interests of the people involved in this trade, Uttarakhand Rafting, Kayaking Manual has been framed and soon manual for paragliding and other adventure tourism activities will be prepared soon. He directed the Chief Secretary and Secretary tourism to frame the policy soon. He said that state government is examining all the legal aspects associated with adventure tourism activities and soon a comprehensive policy will be prepared so that tourism industry is promoted in future. This will provide strength to the economy of the state.
The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand tourism has emerged as a centre of wellness tourism, ayush besides other fields. Besides, the state has famous Jim Corbett National Park, Asan Wetland Conservation Reserve, world heritage place “Valley of Flowers” and Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. Uttarakhand is a major centre for those seeking spiritualism and yoga. There are many spiritual places which are located in Uttarakhand only. The natural scenery, clean and pollution free atmosphere attracts tourists visiting Uttarakhand.
He said besides natural beauty, opportunities of trekking, skiing, paragliding, camping, angling, mountaineering and rock climbing in adventure tourism activities are available in the state. The state government has been trying to make a mark at the global level in these activities. Tehri dam is ideal for water sports activities while Auli area is suitable for skiing and trekking. The state government is also trying to invite major tour operators to invest in the state.
