Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), a sector skill council for Tourism and Hospitality industry under the National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC), has launched a digital skill grid to connect hotel and tourism industry, training partners and trained manpower. The digital platform–thsc.skillgrid.in– was unveiled by Arun Nanda, Chairman of THSC in the presence of industry and training partners. This is a pioneering initiative by THSC, a strong step towards achieving the objectives of ensuring job opportunities to skilled candidates. Thsc.skillgrid.in currently has over 5000 candidates who have completed or currently undergoing training across Job-roles and states, available for the Tourism and Hospitality Industry to Engage.
During the launch, an Industry Meet was held to connect all Stake Holders; Industry Leaders, HR Heads and Vocational Training Partners in the skilling ecosystem.
The occasion was graced by K. B. Kachru, Chairman Emeritus and Principal Advisor, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, South Asia. Mr. Kachru emphasised that as an Industry it is our collective responsibility to ensure a brighter future for the youth because the future of the Country rests on their shoulders. He pledged his whole hearted support to thsc.skillgrid.in and urged Industry to login and register as Industry Partners. Over thirty five Carlson Rezidor properties across India have already signed up on the platform.
Yogendra Agnihotri, Associate Director, Learning and Development, South Asia, Carlson rezidor Hotel Grouphas been passionately involved in the development process. His belief that Mission Skill India is an opportunity for all to make a difference and touch many lives is inspiring.
Praveen Roy, Chief executive Office, Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council shared the journey of this accomplishment. “It was not easy to get all stakeholders on one platform. Each one had their own set of apprehensions. It is however important to remember that Mission Skill India is bigger than any of us. It’s a larger cause”. He further added that the digital platform thsc.skillgrid.in Version-1 has been developed after several focus group meetings with Training Partners and Key industry members. Feedback from all was carefully collected and evaluated. The challenge was to develop a generic platform and not end up customising it to individual training partners or Industry associates. The ultimate benefactors had to be the candidates who gets a job in/near their hometowns”.
Arun Nanda, Chairman Mahindra Holidays and Resorts and Chairman THSC inaugurated the platform. He applauded the efforts of THSC team and encouraged the gathered to lend their whole hearted support to the initiative. In his address he rightly highlighted that “ It serves no purpose to make the best sweet dish for a diabetic”. He emphasised that the skilling ecosystem must be very clued and connected to the Industry, so that training is attuned to the needs of the Industry.
Rattan Keswani, Deputy Managing Director, The Lemon Tree Hotel Company; Chairman-Carnation Hotels Pvt Ltdhas been the most vocal supporter of Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council. While addressing the gathering he recalled his long association with THSC and renewed his commitment to continue the support in all capacity. Rajesh Kumar, Vice President, Human Resources, Lemon Tree Hotel Group,has been very generous with his time and ideas to make this digital platform robust and attractive for the Industry.
The occasion also saw presentations by Team Tourism and Hospitality Skill council to sensitize the Industry on the process leading up to the making of a skilled candidate, beginning from creation of Standards, to Training and Certification.
Sangeeta Ranjit, Director, SSDHalso addressed the gathering on behalf of Vocational Training Partners and shared her joy at THSC initiative to directly connect certified candidates to the Industry.
The Army candidates are featured prominently on thsc.skillgrid.in.Col N.P.Singhaddressed the Industry and urged them to use the feature to engage these candidates who come with immense discipline and experience and can add so much value to the Industry.
Ongrid are the technology partners for the digital platform -thsc.skillgrid.in .Piyush , Founder – Ongrid said,“We are pleased to participate in the program rolled out by THSC. We are confident that the Aadhaar platform and other components of India stack will play a strong role in digitization and further development of the skills ecosystem by creating direct and digital touch-points between stakeholders”.
