Tokyo is expecting more Indian tourists

New Delhi: Representatives of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government organized its first ever promotional event ‘TOKYO WONDERLAND’ for travel agents and the media in New Delhi to effectively promote the attractions of Tokyo to overseas markets and attract visitors to Tokyo.
On this occasion Mr. Ken Katayama, Deputy Director General, Bureau of Industrial and Labour affairs, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Ms. Rewati Chetri, Ms. India and Mr. Masahiko Sakamoto, Senior Director Tourism Division, Bureau of Industrial and Labour Affairs, Tokyo Metropolitan Government were present.
With the relaxation of short-term visa requirements, the number of Indian tourists to Japan is growing steadily, finally topping 100,000 in 2015.
Looking ahead to the 2020 Olympics/Paralympics and beyond, Tokyo, the Gateway to Japan, is playing an increasingly important role in inbound tourism as Japan’s capital and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is actively implementing measures to attract tourists.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is also working on initiatives to establish a “Tokyo brand” that creates a strong impression of Tokyo as a tourist destination under the brand concept “a place that promises all kinds of fun by constantly generating new styles while bringing tradition and innovation together.
The event showcased the city and its different attractions under five themes ‘Unique Culture’, ‘Excellent Dining’, ‘Exciting Shopping’, ‘Delightful Stay’ and ‘Comfortable Nature’ and also organized a Japanese tea ceremony for the attendees to experience.
