Bengaluru Qahwa Event Highlights Saudi Coffee Culture and Trade Opportunities
Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) presented “Brewtopia – A Qahwa Experience” in Bengaluru, aimed at strengthening ties with travel trade partners. Held at Olive Beach, the event attracted 30 industry professionals and showcased Saudi Arabia’s rich coffee heritage.
Attendees enjoyed an immersive experience exploring the origins of coffee, tracing it back to the Arabica bean and the term “qahwa,” meaning the “wine of the bean.” A demonstration of traditional qahwa preparation highlighted its cultural significance and similarities with Indian coffee-making techniques.
Ganga and Pavan, founders of Coffee Mechanics and Kana, led a session using a French press to brew qahwa, which was served in traditional brass Dallah cups alongside Medjool dates. This offered a taste of authentic Saudi hospitality, or Hafawah.
The event concluded with a networking session where partners discussed Saudi destinations like Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, along with experiences in AlUla and Al Baha. Topics also covered visa processes and improved airline connectivity with Bengaluru.
The STA’s initiative underscores its commitment to enhancing Saudi Arabia’s appeal as a travel destination and building stronger relationships within the Indian travel trade sector.
