Ras Al Khaimah Sets Two Guinness World Records™ Titles With a Naturally Magical #raknye 2023 Fireworks Spectacle

Ras Al Khaimah sets Two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ titles set for the largest number of drones with a simultaneous fireworks display and the largest aerial sentence formed by drones, adding to the destination’s growing list of global achievements.

Bringing in 2023 with a mesmerizing pyro-musical spectacular, Ras Al Khaimah, which has previously broken two Guinness World records for its famed fireworks displays, rang in the New Year in epic fashion.

The 12-minute spectacle lit up the sky with mind-blowing pyrotechnic performance and larger-than-life fireworks display, setting new world records for the “largest number of operated multi-rotors/drones with a simultaneous fireworks display” and the “largest aerial sentence formed by multirotor/drones created” with 673 drones.

The spectacle, which drew spectators from all around the world, included cutting-edge drones, nano lights, colors, and shapes coordinated to electronic beats. It broke the previous record of 458 drones and covered a distance of more than 4.7 kilometers while climbing to a height of 1,100 meters.

The drones culminated in a “Happy New Year 2023” message to represent fresh starts and to relate back to their location, they then smoothly changed into the recognizable “RAKashida” logo of the Emirate. The logo represents the Emirate’s three instantly recognizable natural elements: the sea with its perpetual swelling and subsiding, the desert with its undulating dunes, and the mountains with their staggering elevations. The ‘kashida’ concept in Arabic calligraphy, a line that connects letters to form a word, served as inspiration.

Commenting on this year’s world record-breaking fireworks show, Raki Phillips, Chief Executive Officer of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said: “Ras Al Khaimah has once again proven its position as a leading tourism destination that welcomes people from all over the globe. Not only have we set two new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ titles for our #RAKNYE2023 celebrations, but we’ve also given thousands of visitors and residents a New Year’s Eve show that they’ll never forget. This marks a great start to what is set to be a hugely exciting and busy year for us as we continue to build the reputation of Ras Al Khaimah as the must-visit destination for 2023.”

The festivities, which were part of a family-friendly event on Al Marjan Island, were enjoyed by revelers of all ages with the finest seats in the house.

The neighborhood came together for an unforgettable evening with entertainment from some of the best DJs and artists in the UAE in an electrifying concert, mesmerizing carnival-like performances, on-stage crowd karaoke, food trucks, and much more. This event provided the ideal midnight viewing platform.

While thousands of people watched the festivities live on raknye.com, the eye-catching fireworks display was also visible from the numerous hotels arranged in a line from Al Marjan Island to Al Hamra. It was the most attended exhibition to date thanks to the over 30,000 guests and fully filled hotels that attended the festivities.

With its spectacular New Year’s Eve celebrations over the last four years, Ras Al Khaimah has a proven track record for breaking history, and it will welcome 2022 with the world record for the “Highest Altitude Multirotor/Drone Firework Display.”

Additionally, with its 2019 New Year’s Eve Fireworks, it holds the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS TM titles for the “Most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Launching Fireworks Simultaneously” and the “Longest Fireworks Waterfall,” as well as records for the “Longest Chain of Fireworks” and the “Longest Straight Line of Fireworks.”

Additionally, it is the location of Jais Flight, the 2.83 km long longest zipline in the world, which just welcomed its 100,000th guest.
