The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman has strengthened its engagement with India’s MICE industry through a three-city MICE Sales Mission across Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi, bringing together Omani tourism stakeholders with key Indian MICE and corporate travel specialists and other industry partners.
Across the three cities, the Omani delegation engaged with leading corporate and MICE decision-makers from sectors including banking, insurance, consumer goods, travel and events. The mission aimed to deepen trade relationships, build greater awareness of Oman’s MICE offering, and identify new opportunities for corporate groups.
India’s large corporate ecosystem and growing incentive travel market provide a substantial base of potential demand, extending the opportunity across corporate retreats, conferences, and smaller, high-value business gatherings. Discussions with trade partners also explored Oman’s suitability for senior management travel and stopover programmes, alongside opportunities for site inspections, customised destination experiences, and new avenues for collaboration.
Oman’s short flying time from India, coupled with its hospitality infrastructure and diverse experiences, emerged as key advantages. The mission further reinforced Oman’s potential in the corporate incentive segment. Discussions with major corporations and MICE stakeholders highlighted the destination’s appeal for dealer and employee incentive movements, with group sizes of 650–700 delegates, as well as larger programmes accommodating up to 1,500–2,000 delegates.
A key takeaway from engagements across the three cities was the Indian MICE industry’s growing interest in a more structured and transparent incentive framework for Oman. Industry partners indicated that a standardised incentive structure would help planners evaluate Oman more efficiently when comparing it with established regional and international MICE destinations. The feedback provides valuable market insight for the Ministry as it continues to strengthen Oman’s MICE proposition in India.
Mohammed Al Jabri, Head, Business Development & Strategic Partnerships, Ministry of Heritage & Tourism, Sultanate of Oman: “India continues to be a strategically important market for Oman, and the MICE segment offers considerable scope for further growth. Through this Sales Mission, we have had the opportunity to engage directly with key decision-makers and understand the evolving requirements of the Indian corporate and MICE sector. The strong interest in Oman reinforces the potential for deeper partnerships and a stronger pipeline of business events from India.”
Al Muatasim Almarhoon, Tourism Events Specialist, Ministry of Heritage & Tourism, Sultanate of Oman: “The discussions across Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi have provided valuable insights into what Indian MICE planners are looking for when selecting a destination. Oman’s accessibility, hospitality infrastructure and diversity of experiences allow us to create programmes that go beyond the traditional conference format. We look forward to working closely with our Indian trade partners to develop more compelling and customised experiences for corporate groups.”
Arjun Chadha, Tourism Events Specialist, Ministry of Heritage & Tourism, Sultanate of Oman: “India’s MICE landscape is evolving rapidly, with corporates increasingly looking for destinations that offer ease of access, value, and experiences that delegates can take back with them. The response to Oman during this mission has been encouraging, with discussions ranging from mid-sized corporate groups to larger incentive movements. Our focus now is to build on these conversations, strengthen trade partnerships, and convert this interest into a sustained pipeline of MICE business for Oman.”
Trade partners indicated positive momentum for Oman, highlighting its ability to cater to different formats and group requirements through its diverse topography and range of experiences — spanning natural wonders, adventurous spirits, slow retreats, and more — leaving ample scope for customisation and suitability.
The mission also included networking engagements with key MICE and travel trade partners, providing a platform to share insights on current booking trends, upcoming corporate pipelines, and opportunities for greater collaboration between Indian planners and Omani tourism stakeholders.
