MOU signed between Punjab Heritage Tourism Promotion Board & Punjabi University Patiala

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]handigarh: “Punjab has immense potential to emerge as the numero uno destination on the global map in terms of Tourism sector and under the visionary guidance of the Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu, Punjab would see this tremendous capability getting harnessed to the maximum level.”
Disclosing this here, the Director, Cultural Affairs and Tourism and CEO of the Punjab Heritage Tourism Promotion Board (PHTPB) Mr. Shivdular Singh Dhillon said that an MOU was signed between Punjab Heritage Tourism Promotion Board and Punjabi University, Patiala for three years. The MOU seeks to establish cooperation between the PHTPB and Punjabi University for long–term partnership in knowledge sharing and activities for development and management of Tourism in the State of Punjab.
Mr. Dhillon further added that the PHTPB and Punjabi University, would engage in a series of activities to initiate a consistent effort in the field of tourism development which would be mutually beneficial. The University would provide academic and intellectual inputs whereas PHTPB will provide financial & Infrastructural support. The Punjabi University would develop various projects and programs in consultation with PHTPB comprising refresher/ Orientation Courses or Short Term Certificate Programmes in the areas of tourism for capacity building of various service providers including creation and development of content for PHTPB. The PHTPB would also provide on the job Training or Internship Programme for students of Punjabi University, Patiala.

Among others present on the occasion included the Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala Prof. B.S. Ghuman, Manager (Projects) Punjab Heritage Tourism Promotion Board Alka Kapoor, Manager (Statistics) Punjab Heritage Tourism Promotion Board Urmil Khosla and Head of Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management Punjabi University, Patiala Rann Singh Dhaliwal.
