Ministry of Tourism and Yatra signs MOU to strengthen Hospitality & Tourism Industry of India

On July 2, 2021, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yatra to boost the hospitality and tourism industry.

The event was held as part of a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and the Quality Council of India (QCI) aimed at enhancing the Indian hospitality and tourism industry.

The primary objective of this MoU is to give accommodation units who have self-certified on SAATHI (System for Assessment, Awareness, and Training for the Hospitality Industry) on the OTA platform a lot of visibility.

Both sides agree to encourage Units to register on NIDHI and hence on SAATHI, as well as to promote local tourism with necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The goal is to collect more data on lodging units in order to get actionable insights and build evidence-based and targeted policy initiatives that encourage safe, honourable, and sustainable tourism.

Through the MoU, the Ministry of Tourism and Yatra will work to stimulate and enhance strategic and technical cooperation in the Indian hospitality and tourism sector for the benefit of all stakeholders in the defined areas.

More OTAs are expected to come forward in the future to sign such MOUs in order to improve India’s hospitality and tourism industry.
