Taiwan Tourism Administration Confident of Surpassing 38,000 Indian Visitors
Taiwan’s growing appeal as a preferred international travel destination for Indian tourists has set the stage for an exceptional surge in visitor numbers in 2024. The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) is strategically leveraging India’s outbound potential, expecting to exceed 38,000 Indian visitor arrivals this year, marking a robust 20% growth.
“Taiwan has come back strong after the pandemic with robust market-specific strategies and re-entered the Indian market starting January 2024. We have made our grand revival in the Indian market post-pandemic by hosting roadshows, FAMs, and digital activations, as well as participating at various shows and consumer activations to showcase the destination to the Indian travel fraternity and consumers,” Shih said on the occasion.
India-Taiwan Tourism Ties Strengthen Post-Pandemic
“As a result, whereas Indian outbound grew by 10% in 2024, Taiwan welcomed 31,766 Indian visitors between January and October 2024, marking a 20% growth compared to the same period last year. This growth is a result of our continuous efforts in India, including trade partnerships, roadshows, FAM trips, PR, media, influencer marketing, and digital outreach,” he further added. Taiwan received 6.2 million international visitors during this period – a remarkable 24.55% increase over 2023.
Strategic Trade Partnerships and Market Expansions
TTA has adopted a dual-pronged strategy combining trade activation with consumer outreach to facilitate seamless travel experiences. This approach enables Indian travel partners to promote and sell Taiwan more effectively, ensuring sustained interest and demand for the destination.
Furthermore, Taiwan’s focus on the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment has yielded tangible results. The most notable success in 2024 has been a large-scale incentive group of over 1,100 delegates from Asian Paints visiting Taiwan. Such movements underscore Taiwan’s growing prominence as a preferred corporate travel and incentive destination for Indian businesses.
Taiwan’s 2025 Roadmap: Luxury Travel, Incentives & Regional Expansion
Looking ahead to 2025, Taiwan is set to expand its focus beyond MICE tourism, tapping into the luxury travel segment through exclusive promotional campaigns. TTA aims to work closely with travel trade partners to enhance Taiwan’s positioning as a premium travel destination for Indian tourists.
As part of its market expansion strategy, Taiwan is set to broaden its outreach beyond metros to Tier-II cities across India. Additionally, East India has been identified as a key emerging market, with dedicated promotional campaigns to attract travelers from this region.
Key Advantages for Indian Travelers Choosing Taiwan
Taiwan’s strategic advantages for Indian travelers include:
- Accessibility & Connectivity: Taiwan is well-connected to India via key international airlines, ensuring seamless travel options.
- Indian Cuisine Availability: The presence of Indian restaurants, including Jain food options, makes Taiwan an attractive destination for Indian tourists.
- Safety & Convenience: Taiwan is consistently ranked among the safest destinations globally, with efficient public transport and world-class infrastructure.
- Event Hosting Capabilities: Taiwan’s infrastructure is well-equipped to handle large-scale events and corporate meetings, making it an ideal destination for the MICE segment.
Strengthening Partnerships with Airlines & OTAs
To further boost Indian arrivals, Taiwan Tourism Administration plans to strengthen partnerships with airlines and Online Travel Agencies (OTAs). These collaborations will help in curating customized travel packages tailored to the specific needs of Indian tourists, making Taiwan an increasingly appealing choice for leisure and business travelers alike.
Taiwan’s Global Tourism Rebranding – ‘TAIWAN: Waves of Wonder 3.0’
As part of its global promotion strategy, Taiwan has unveiled the ‘TAIWAN – Waves of Wonder 3.0’ campaign. This initiative showcases Taiwan’s unique year-round travel experiences, emphasizing the country’s diverse seasonal attractions and cultural richness. The new branding highlights Taiwan’s vibrant landscapes, heritage, cuisine, and adventure offerings, aiming to captivate travelers from across the globe.
Conclusion
With a strong foundation in trade partnerships, digital outreach, and market-specific strategies, Taiwan is poised for unprecedented growth in Indian outbound tourism. The 20% surge in 2024 Indian arrivals is a testament to Taiwan’s robust promotional efforts, ensuring its place as one of the most sought-after travel destinations for Indian tourists.
As Taiwan continues to enhance its tourism infrastructure, luxury travel offerings, and corporate travel appeal, 2025 is set to be another landmark year in the Indo-Taiwan travel corridor.
