Imperial Russian Ballet will be performing in Bahrain for the First Time

The famed Imperial Russian Ballet (IRB) will perform at Exhibition World Bahrain, Sakhir’s Grand Hall, from March 2 to 4. The event is being organised by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).

According to BNA, the exhibition is being put together in cooperation with Common Ground International and will be staged for the first time ever in the Gulf area. With the assistance of the Office of the BTEA and in collaboration with the American non-profit organisation “The Arts &Science Achievement Foundation,” the firm Common Ground International has begun implementing the Common Ground project in Bahrain.

The Imperial Russian Ballet will perform during the project’s opening, which will be the first of several scheduled for the kingdom and GCC area this year.

Nearly 300 people make up the IRB group, including a full production staff and 120 musicians from the State Symphonic Orchestra. According to the source, the repertoire will include some of the greatest orchestral works ever written, including Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

BTEA CEO Dr Nasser Qaedi said: “We are proud to host the Imperial Russian Ballet for the first time ever in the GCC. The presence of such a prominent artistic troupe of creative performers in the kingdom proves that Bahrain has become a beacon for global art bands and performers, hosting the finest musicians and fine art innovators.”

This demonstrates Bahrain’s readiness to attract more large-scale international events stressing BTEA’s commitment to continue to attract the best entertainment and artistic shows from around the world, to work towards achieving the kingdom’s tourism strategic objectives, reported BNA.

Common Ground Co-Founder and Project Coordinator Dr Anna Artsibasheva lauded BTEA’s efforts and logistical support in facilitating IRB members’ travel to Bahrain and the advanced facilities and high-tech amenities at the Exhibition World Bahrain for the shows, it added.
