Go First Airline Suspends Ticket Sales and Cancels Flights
Go First, an airline based in India, has suspended the sale of tickets until May 15, 2023, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This action came after the airline suddenly cancelled flights for three days starting May 3, leading to the issuance of a show cause notice by the aviation regulator.
Passengers who had already booked flights with Go First have been informed that their bookings will either be refunded or rescheduled for future dates. The DGCA has stated that it is committed to minimising the inconvenience to passengers caused by the airline’s abrupt decision to suspend operations without prior intimation.
Refunds to passengers are to be processed by Go First as per the timelines stipulated in relevant regulations. The watchdog examined the reply submitted by Go First and issued an order under prevailing regulations, directing the airline to process refunds accordingly.
Cancellation of Go First flights till May 9, 2023, has also been announced by the airline itself, citing operational reasons. It has assured passengers of a full refund, which will be issued shortly to the original mode of payment.
