Spirit of Goa Festival: A Three-Day Extravaganza of Music, Dance, and Delicacies Concludes in Colva

The recent ‘Spirit of Goa Festival, organized by the Tourism Department after a decade, culminated with great pomp and show in the South-Goa region at Colva. This three-day event witnessed a massive audience turnout who enjoyed the extravaganza of music, dance, and authentic Goan delicacies.

Inauguration Ceremony at Colva Beach

The event started with a grand inauguration ceremony on Friday at Colva Beach, where visitors got to experience a diverse range of products, cuisines, beverages, and handicrafts. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries like Shri Shripad Naik, Minister of State Tourism and Ports, and Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Tourism Goa.

Goa is renowned for its delicious local delicacies and cuisines from different parts of India. The festival featured a total of 44 stalls, tantalizing visitors with mouth-watering local delicacies, cuisines, and beverages.

Renowned Goan artist Lorna Cordeiro enchanted the audience with her melodious Konkani songs, followed by captivating performances by popular bands like New World (Trio Band) Life, Ambe & Ben Evangelist, Pure Magic, Black In White, Altitude, Uncut Diamonds (The Music Academy), Saidutt Kamat, Mercury, 24K, Raagas2Riches, and Crimson Tide. The comedy duo of Ambe & Ben Evangelist added fun and laughter to the evening.

King Momo, a popular Goan figure, surprised the audience with his entertaining performance on the second day, while the third day included a workshop for ‘Feni distillation’ for the public, self-help groups’ stalls, cuisines, and Feni testing stalls.

Positive Response and Future Plans

The festival adhered to all government protocols, and the three-day event witnessed a massive footfall, including locals and tourists. The overwhelming response from the audience, demanding an extension of the music festival, was a testament to the resounding success of the Spirit of Goa festival.

Speaking about the event, Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister of Tourism, IT & EC and Printing & Stationery Goa, stated that they were delighted to bring back the festival to Colva after a decade, following demands from Saxtti MLAs, including Venzy Viegas, Aleixo Sequeira, Digambar Kamat, and Reginaldo Lourenco. He also mentioned that this was just the beginning, and many more festivals could be expected in Saxtti and the southern regions in the future.
