The goal is to showcase various elements, dates, and details of India’s events and festivals on a global platform, as well as to increase tourism awareness, attractions, and opportunities by providing tourists with contextual digital experiences in the form of visually appealing photographs and stills from the events.

Furthermore, the goal is to provide devotees and travellers with the opportunity to experience and view the sights of some of India’s most well-known religious divine shrines through Live Darshan.

The Utsav portal will also include official social media links, official websites, brochures, contact information for the organising committee, and information on how to easily reach the destination via air, rail, and roadways, establishing a better connection with tourists and assisting visitors in planning their trip to these destinations.

The website offers immersive experience-based content in a variety of categories, including Art & Culture, Spiritual, Music, Seasonal, Culinary, Dance, Sports & Adventure, Harvest, and Expo & Exhibitions.

There is a section that lists the major festivals celebrated in India so that international and domestic travellers can plan their trips to coincide with these festivals.

The website aims to showcase the beauty of India, the land of festivals, in a global arena by providing travellers with compelling, relevant, and contextualised digital experiences that increase tourism awareness, attraction, and travel opportunities.

The website now includes information on more than 80 events, festivals, and live darshans from 28 states and nine UTs, as well as detailed attractions. The website will be dynamic and constantly evolving, with new information about all upcoming events, festivals, and exhibitions being added on a regular basis.

On the occasion of National Tourism Day on January 25th, the Ministry also released a digital Calendar on AKAM with the theme of dedicated tourist sites.

During the Conference, Ms Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General, stated that, while highlighting the events undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, a convergence of activities with State Governments and Union Territories were required to create an impactful and wider outreach for spreading the core message of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.

Since March 12th, 2021, the Ministry of Tourism has showcased all activities carried out across India under AKAM. It also revealed the proposed 75 locations in India where events will take place in the coming months. Jan Bhagidari will be the focus. In addition to the Ministry’s India @ 75, state governments have been urged to choose their own 75 locations.

To supplement infrastructure development, the Ministry has sanctioned 03 projects under the PRASHAD Scheme for a total of Rs 112.25 crore from 2021-to 22, with the goal of integrated development of identified pilgrimage and heritage destinations. The Ministry’s main goal will be to provide basic amenities at many more religious sites so that pilgrims can benefit. This will enable us to cover a much larger number of locations.

In addition, the Ministry has recently relaunched its Swadesh Darshan Scheme as Swadesh Darshan 2.0. The revamped Scheme envisions a destination and tourist-centric approach in order to develop responsible and sustainable destinations.

In order to mark the celebration of International Day of Yoga 2022, a list of 75 locations has been shared with the State Governments. The inclusion of students from schools/colleges / Universities / Institutes in the overall celebrations would be the highlight to ensure maximum participation.

During the event, Additional Secretary, Shri Rakesh Verma, also presented the draft National Tourism Policy, which focuses on digital interventions and the development of sustainable and Green Tourism practices.
