With 72 Boeing 737MAX aircraft scheduled to be delivered over the next five years, Akasa Airlines will have India’s greenest fleet.
In Seattle, USA, Akasa Airlines, India’s newest airline, received its much-anticipated first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The carriers’ total purchase of 72 aircraft comprises an initial delivery of 18 aircraft by March 2023, followed by delivery of the remaining 54 aircraft over the next four years, as part of a strong commitment to democratising the skies.
Commenting on the successful delivery, Vinay Dube – Founder, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Akasa Air said, “This is indeed a symbolic milestone in the journey of Akasa Air, bringing us one step closer to the process of obtaining our Air Operator’s Permit (AOP) and leading to our commercial launch. While we are extremely happy with this achievement, we want to keep ourselves focused on the task of delivering on our vision to transform India’s air transportation ecosystem, support the nation’s economic growth engine and help fellow Indians chase their dreams”

The 737 MAX line of aircraft offers improved economy, flexibility, and reliability while lowering fuel consumption and emissions. The 737 MAX will be one of the primary factors in ensuring Akasa Air has a competitive edge in its home market, as it offers the lowest seat-mile costs for a single-aisle aeroplane, as well as high dispatch dependability and an enhanced passenger experience.
Akasa Air, India’s newest airline, has received its first Boeing aircraft, which is slated to arrive in India on June 21. It is invested by ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala.

He also discussed the recent increase in Air Turbine Fuel (ATF), assuaging concerns about increasing airline rates. Although Akasa Air is joining the market at a time when ATF prices have risen 15%, Dube stated that this is “not something that concerns us.”

Akasa Air’s first aircraft landed today 21st June at 8:42 am at Indira Gandhi International Aiport, New Delhi.
