Agoda: Taiwan Leads the Way in Post Pandemic Travel Recovery
Taiwan is among the three nations named by travel booking agency Agoda as showing the strongest recovery in the travel sector in the ‘Post-Pandemic travel’

Travel Mail Desk: In a recent interview to CNBC, chief executive of the Booking Holdings subsidiary John Brown told the media that Travel is recovering faster in Asia than in the West, although, “most of it is domestic and in countries where they really have the best control over COVID.”

Taiwan’s pandemic response has made it 2020s most popular destination if Agoda enquiries are to be assessed. Tourists are in search of COVID-Safe Holidays, the Singapore-headquartered digital platform added, informing their data estimation came from 11 markets including countries in Asia-Pacific and Europe. Taiwan topped the travel escape searches list among all different traveller groups, from solo travellers to couples, families or groups.

Taiwan has reported 700 cases (approximately) so far with no domestic transmission for over 200 days. The island nation is exploring possibilities for travel bubbles, with the first to be set in motion later this week. As of 18 December, travellers from Taiwan may enter Singapore with a pre-applied ‘Air Travel Pass‘ and a COVID-negative test upon arrival. Previously, Taiwan had reduced the quarantine period for those arriving from Singapore. The process and success of this bubble will be closely watched, with the potential of opening more such travel agreements in the near future.
