Bengaluru Airport, Kempegowda International Airport Wins Big at FAB Awards with New 080 Lounge
Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) made history by securing seven awards at the Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference and Awards in Ontario, California. These achievements mark a first for any Indian airport, underscoring BLR Airport’s commitment to enhancing passenger experiences through diverse food, beverage, and hospitality services.
The FAB Awards, renowned for recognizing excellence in airport F&B sectors worldwide, resumed this year after a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The event rewarded innovations in airport lounges, hospitality services, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, setting new benchmarks in the industry.
BLR Airport’s 080 Domestic Lounge stood out by winning ‘Airport Lounge of the Year’. Combining Karnataka’s rich heritage with modern luxury, the lounge offers a unique experience that resonates with both local and international travelers. Kenneth Guldbjerg, Chief Commercial Officer at Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), stated, “We are happy to be the first airport lounge in India to achieve these prestigious recognitions at the FAB Awards… We have incorporated eco-friendly materials and waste reduction practices into every aspect, aiming to minimize our environmental footprint while enhancing passenger comfort.”
These accolades coincide with the opening of BLR Airport’s new Terminal 2, which can accommodate 25 million passengers annually. As India’s third busiest airport, handling 37.5 million passengers in 2023-2024, BLR Airport continues to solidify its reputation as a premier aviation hub.
