The Aqua Cruise Awards, the first of its kind in India, celebrated the achievements of the country’s cruise and maritime tourism industry. Organized by Aquarius Marine Services & Consultancy, the event was held in Mumbai on April 12, 2023, and attracted prominent figures from the industry.
Chief Guest Rajiv Jalota, Chairman of the Mumbai Port Authority and IPA and DG Shipping, Govt of India, and Guest of Honour R.C. Singh, Chairman of the B.P. Marine Academy, graced the occasion. Also in attendance were Nalini Gupta, MD of Lotus desnaons (GSA), COSTA Cruises India; Raj Singh, CEO and Founder of Antara Luxury Cruises and Owner of Ganga Vilas; Jurgen Bailom, CEO and President of Cordelia Cruises, and other distinguished guests.
Recognizing the contributions of industry stakeholders and leaders towards the flourishing cruise and maritime tourism scenario in India, the event was curated by Capt. Anish Jaggi, the proprietor of Aquarius Marine Services and Consultancy.
Promoting India’s Cruise and Maritime Tourism Industry
In his welcome speech, Rajiv Jalota expressed gratitude for the initiative to organize an awards ceremony specifically for the cruise industry. He believed that this would motivate the industry and lead to growth in the future. Jalota also predicted that the awards ceremony would eventually expand to a one- or two-day event.
The awards ceremony aimed to acknowledge the efforts of industry leaders and stakeholders in promoting India’s growing cruise and maritime tourism industry. Nalini Gupta, MD of Lotus Destinations (GSA), COSTA Cruises India, commended the initiative, saying that she expected it to lead to something significant. Gupta believed that cruising would become a popular way of traveling for Indians in the future.

The Aqua Cruise Awards was followed by cocktails and dinner, where attendees had a chance to mingle and network. The evening was capped off with a performance by the renowned singer Shibani Kashyap, who entertained the guests with her music.
