As India surpassed the historic milestone of administering 100 crores COVID vaccinations in one of the world’s largest and fastest immunization drives, the Archaeological Survey of India of the Ministry of Culture is illuminating 100 monuments in tri-color around the country. The lighting is being done as a show of respect and gratitude to the corona fighters who have tirelessly helped to fight against the covid pandemic.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites include the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, and Qutb Minar in Delhi, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh, Konark Temple in Odisha, MamallapuramRath temples in Tamil Nadu, St Francis of Assisi Church in Goa, Khajuraho, the forts of Chittor and Kumbhalgarh in Rajasthan, the excavated ruins of the ancient Nalanda University in Bihar and Dholavira (recently accorded world heritage status) in Gujarat.

To honor the corona warriors – vaccinators, sanitation workers, paramedical and auxiliary workers, police officers, and others who have gone above and beyond their call of duty to assist the country in effectively combating the pandemic and for their selfless services to humanity, 100 monuments will be lit in tri-color on the night of October 21, 2021, as India passed the 100 crore vaccination mark.
