Women in Leadership: Shaping the Future of Hospitality and Travel

Parinita Samanta, Director of Communications and Marketing at Shangri-La Eros New Delhi

Women in leadership today are playing a defining role in shaping the future of hospitality and travel. My own journey began with a clear ambition to build a career in public relations, and an early opportunity to work on hospitality accounts introduced me to the dynamic world of hotel brands and guest experiences. Over the past 14 years, my focus has been on building meaningful brand narratives and communications strategies that align with evolving guest expectations.

The hospitality industry moves quickly, and one of the biggest opportunities for women leaders today is the ability to bring adaptability, emotional intelligence, and collaborative leadership into decision-making spaces. At the same time, challenges do exist, particularly in traditionally structured environments where women have had to work harder to establish authority and visibility. However, the industry is steadily evolving, and more women are stepping into leadership roles and shaping conversations around innovation, culture, and guest engagement.

For organisations, creating inclusive and supportive workplaces goes beyond representation. It requires actively empowering women through mentorship, equal leadership opportunities, and encouraging diverse perspectives in strategic discussions. Hospitality thrives on empathy, creativity, and human connection, and when organisations nurture these qualities across diverse leadership teams, they build stronger and more future-ready brands.
