Tourism Investors Meet (TIM) to be Inaugurated by Cheif Minister

In a strategic move to rejuvenate Kerala’s travel and hospitality sector, Kerala Tourism is all set to host an Investors’ Meet in the heart of the state’s capital on November 16. This event will spotlight significant investment prospects in various destinations, products, and initiatives, firmly establishing Kerala as an all-season experiential tourism hub.

The ‘Tourism Investors Meet’ (TIM), a groundbreaking initiative on a grand scale, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan. The event is scheduled to take place at Hyatt Regency, Thycaud, in the city at 12 noon on November 16.

Minister for Tourism and PWD, Shri PA Mohamed Riyas, will preside over the opening session. The event will witness the presence of key figures such as the Planning Board Vice Chairman, Chief Secretary of Kerala, officials from various departments, and investors from India and abroad.

Exploring Investment Avenues

Shri Riyas highlighted that the event aims to unveil critical areas and locations requiring more investments. These opportunities will be presented to both domestic and international investors. Kerala’s tourism sector holds immense potential that has yet to be fully harnessed, and this Investors Meet is a significant step in that direction.

The event is expected to host around 350 investors and will unveil abundant investment opportunities in various tourism sectors, including hospitality, eco-tourism initiatives, adventure tourism, responsible tourism, and sustainable tourism projects.

The event will feature presentations, exhibitions, seminars, and workshops showcasing various tourism investment prospects across the state. Additionally, there will be project pitch sessions, roundtable discussions, and B2B meetings.

Leveraging Kerala’s Assets

Kerala is blessed with abundant natural beauty and potential tourism assets. Shri Riyas emphasized the need to develop these assets sustainably, transforming the entire state into one of the world’s top all-weather experiential tourism hubs.

The ever-evolving nature of global tourism calls for fresh strategies and approaches. Kerala must adapt, upgrade, and reorient its tourism sector to align with current trends, demands, and preferences. Attracting more investments in promising locations and products is a key strategy.

Strengthening Partnerships

Kerala Tourism has built a strong foundation over the last 25 years through a robust state-industry partnership. The Tourism Investors Meet aims to further enhance this collaboration, solidifying Kerala’s reputation as a successful tourism model, recognized worldwide. Shri Riyas stressed the importance of leveraging new ideas, practices, and products through joint ventures, public-private partnership (PPP) models, and operational arrangements.

Facilitation Center

A special facilitation centre will be established at the Tourism Directorate in the state capital to provide services to investors and advance their projects in the sector. This initiative will have a positive impact on the state’s economy, create job opportunities, and bring about a holistic transformation in the tourism sector.

During the announcement, Shri Riyas also unveiled the logo of the Tourism Investors Meet, setting the stage for what promises to be a remarkable event.

Boosting State’s GDP

Shri K Biju, Secretary of Tourism, expressed his hopes that this event would increase the tourism sector’s contribution to Kerala’s GDP from 10 per cent to 12 per cent. The Investors Meet is anticipated to generate significant investments.

Tourism Director Shri Nooh highlighted that despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and unrest in various parts of the world, Kerala welcomed more than 1.88 crore visitors, including domestic and foreign tourists, in 2022.

Showcasing Opportunities

The Tourism Investors Meet will provide a platform for investors to explore various opportunities in Kerala. The event will showcase the land parcels owned by the Tourism Department and other related departments, highlighting the immense potential for development.

The event will be graced by the presence of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Smt Sikha Surendran and KTIL Managing Director Dr. Manoj Kumar K.
