The impetus to Tourism Sector: Union Minister Shri. G Kishan Reddy Hands Over Cheques, Sanction Letters Under Loan Guarantee Scheme to Tourism Sector Services

At a programme organised by the South Region of the Ministry of Tourism in Hyderabad, Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and DoNER, Shri G.Kishan Reddy, handed over cheques and sanction letters to stakeholders who had been granted loans under the Loan Guarantee Scheme for COVID Affected Tourism Sector Services (LGSCATSS).

The minister stated during the ceremony that infrastructure is being built at the temple town of Bhadrachalam, which would be the final point on the ‘Ramayana Circuit.’

He also mentioned that a draught tourist policy is in the works.

The Minister stated that the tourism industry was one of the most severely impacted service sectors by the Covid -19 epidemic, affecting the livelihoods of tourism industry stakeholders.

“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi wishes to give financial support in the shape of credit under the Credit Guarantee Scheme at concessional rates to lessen their difficulties and help stakeholders rebuild their companies and lives,” he explained.

Tour operators, travel agents, tourist transportation operators, and regional level tourist guides certified by the Ministry of Tourism, as well as local guides licenced by state governments, would be the primary beneficiaries.

On this occasion in the city, about 32 LGSCATSS applicants recognised by the Ministry of Tourism’s South Region office got checks and sanction letters under the loan guarantee plan.

Under this scheme, each applicant approved by the Ministry of Tourism is eligible for a loan of up to Rs. 10 lakh and each Regional Tourist Guide recognised by the Ministry of Tourism and Tourist Guides recognised by the State Governments and Union Territories is eligible for a loan of up to Rs. 1 lakh.

This event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Finance, Tourism Departments of South Indian States, and stakeholders from various segments of the tourism industry.
