India Tourism can sky rocket with vast investment opportunities available in this rapidly growing Spiritual and Religious Tourism

The government is all set and focused on showcasing the strength of India’s religions and philosophies to the world, according to Smt. Rupinder Brar, Additional DG, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. India has the potential to become a hub for spiritual and religious tourism, as the government is all set and focused on showcasing the strength of India’s religions and philosophies to the world.

She was presenting at a virtual session on ‘Investment Opportunities in Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality at the India Pavilion, EXPO2020 Dubai, as part of the ‘Tourism Fortnight.’

“Tourism has exponential possibilities to boost the entire services industry in the next decade. Being the largest service industry of the country, it has a high impact on employment, export earnings and regional development and thus is a key engine of India’s growth story,”she added.

“Despite the pandemic, India had an inflow of USD 2.93 billion in tourist investment, compared to USD 1.07 billion in the financial year 2019,” Smt. Brar stated, making a strong appeal for investment prospects available in the Indian tourism sector. There is a vast untapped business opportunity in the Indian tourism sector in terms of market size and commercial potential.”

Smt. Shilpa Gupta, Addl. Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board said “The state of Madhya Pradesh is a microcosm of everything that India has to offer to the world. I would like to invite all the potential investors to come and invest in the tourism sector of the state.”

Shri Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, Director, Department of Tourism, Government of Odishain his virtual address said that tourism is one of the key sectors for the state of Odisha. The state has a very diverse tourism offering, starting from religious places to coastlines and wetlands to wildlife.

On the 6th of January, the Ministry of Tourism hosted a session on Luxury Tourism, which focused on displaying the changing face of luxury tourism in India, luxury tourist attractions around the country, and government measures to make travel safe and secure.

Sumita Saroch, Joint Director – Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, Shri Nikhil Desai, Managing Director, Goa Tourism Development Corporation, and Mr Prateek Hira, Chairman, FICCI Tourism Committee, UP State Council, and President Mr Pronab Sarkar, Immediate Past President, Indian Association of Tour Operators, moderated the discussion.
