Singapore Reimagines Itself as a Premium Wedding Destination for Indian Couples with WeddingSutra
Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is expanding its outreach to capture the wedding tourism market in India. The island country is already a popular tourist destination for Indian visitors, and now it is looking to position itself as a premium wedding destination as well.
To this end, STB and Singapore stakeholders collaborated with WeddingSutra, a leading wedding and event planning company in India, to organize networking sessions in Mumbai and Delhi on February 7th and 8th respectively. The events saw participation from prominent wedding planners and event organizers in India.
The networking session, which saw the attendance of India’s leading wedding and event planners, was led by Mr GB Srithar, Regional Director India, Middle East & South Asia STB, and Mr Parthip Thyagarajan, Co-founder & CEO, of WeddingSutra.
SingapoReimagine Event: Introducing Singapore as a Premium Wedding Destination
At the event, STB reintroduced Singapore as a premium wedding destination, hosting an insightful panel discussion with renowned names from the Indian wedding industry. Key Singapore stakeholders, including Sentosa Development Corporation, Gardens by the Bay, and Singapore Airlines, also participated in the discussion.
The event facilitated one-on-one interactions between Singapore stakeholders such as Singapore Airlines, Changi Airport Group, Sentosa Development Corporation, Gardens by the Bay, Far East Hospitality, and wedding planners, highlighting unique venue options, exclusive beach resorts, and private yet luxurious environs.
India is a key source market for Singapore, and the country ranked second in terms of visitor arrivals in 2022. With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, travel rebounded, and this momentum is set to continue, with Bhubaneshwar becoming the 17th Indian city to be connected to Singapore via a direct flight.
Singapore: A Perfect Wedding and Tourist Destination
Traditionally a family, MICE, and cruise holiday destination, Singapore is keen to capitalize on the momentum in visitor arrivals by broadening its appeal as a destination for weddings. With its range of attractions and competitive pricing in the premium wedding category, Singapore is ideally poised to cater to the entire wedding universe, from the pre-wedding photoshoot to the honeymoon.
Moving forward, STB India will continue to facilitate networking between stakeholders from India and Singapore to establish a strong ecosystem and seek ideas and input from industry leaders to map out suitable support efforts required from the STB and the industry to further entrench Singapore’s positioning as a destination for weddings.
Conclusion
With the partnership between STB and WeddingSutra, Singapore is making its presence felt in the lucrative Indian wedding tourism market. As an established tourist destination with world-class infrastructure, Singapore has a lot to offer to couples planning their dream wedding. With the right support and collaboration from the industry and stakeholders, Singapore is well on its way to becoming a top wedding destination in the region.
