Shaping the Future Innovatively: German National Tourist Board presents digital trends in tourism at Knowledge Days 2021

The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) is focusing its Knowledge Days 2021 on how digital change is influencing international tourism today and in the future. For its members and sponsors on the 23rd and 24th of June, high-profile guest speakers and GNTB experts will showcase current trends and technological developments, future scenarios, and the practical implementation of digital tools.

Petra Hedorfer, Chairwoman of the German National Tourist Board Executive Board: “We see leadership in the digital transformation as an opportunity for future challenges. Together with our partners in German tourism, we want to discuss current trends during the Knowledge Days that we believe will shape incoming tourism in the post-corona phase. In this way, we provide practical support to our members and strengthen the position of Destination Germany in the increasingly fierce international competition among destinations.”

As keynote speaker, company founder, tech investor and author Frank Thelen will present his view of digitization as the beginning of the greatest revolution in human history under the title of his bestseller “10xDNA – The Mindset of the Future”.

The Knowledge Days will examine new advancements in conversational marketing, which is already a key element of the German National Tourist Board digital strategy with speech recognition systems, AI-supported chatbots, and smart speaker skills, under the slogan ‘Rethink & Unlock: Using Digital Technologies in Tourism.’

This includes potential speech technology applications and functionality in Knowledge Graphs, which is a direct relationship to the German tourism industry’s Open Data project, which the German National Tourist Board is organizing. From social media marketing to company positioning, the trend theme ‘Social Listening – Digital Listening’ follows.

The presentation “The Conscious Traveller of Tomorrow: Why Travel and Sustainability Must Be Thought Together in the Future” focuses on the strategic GNTB subject of future-oriented and sustainable tourism, which has been in place for over a decade. The session on ‘Recovery & Travel Data Insights’ will look at how digital data sources could be used in the tourism industry after Corona.

The Knowledge Days are the central platform through which the GNTB yearly addresses the latest trends in digital transformation for its members and sponsors, includes the experience of industry leaders, and illustrates current and future practical applications for tourism marketing.

Triple Sense Reply, one of Germany’s most successful digital firms, Talkwalker, one of the top providers of social media analytics and monitoring, the Lufthansa Innovation Hub, and Google will be among the external presenters in 2021.

The GNTB is organizing the Knowledge Days 2021 as a virtual event.
