Digi Yatra’s Seamless Air Travel System Applauded by PM Modi at Aviation Conference

At the 2nd Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Digi Yatra’s role in transforming India’s aviation sector. He highlighted the initiative’s ability to enhance passenger convenience by using Facial Recognition Technology, allowing travelers to clear airport checkpoints in just 5 seconds. “Digi Yatra is not only efficient and convenient but truly represents the future of travel,” said PM Modi.

Digi Yatra, an industry-led project backed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is managed by the Digi Yatra Foundation, a not-for-profit organization. It ensures passenger data security with its Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) ecosystem, based on Privacy by Design principles.

Since its launch in 2022, Digi Yatra has seen significant growth, with over 5 million users registered by August 2024 and operations across 24 locations in India. The initiative offers a seamless, biometric-based travel experience, reducing the hassle of multiple checkpoints at airports.

Suresh Khadakbhavi, CEO of Digi Yatra Foundation, expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s recognition, saying, “PM Modi’s acknowledgment inspires us to continue providing secure, efficient, and seamless airport experiences.”

The foundation aims to further expand its services across the country and internationally while prioritizing passenger convenience and data privacy.
