Mugdha Sinha Appointed as New Director General of the Ministry of Tourism
In a significant administrative shake-up, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has recently undertaken a major reorganization, deploying fourteen IAS officers to new roles at the level of Additional Secretary. This strategic move aims to bolster governance structures and enhance policy implementation across a range of sectors.
Mugdha Sinha, an IAS officer from the 1999 batch of Rajasthan, has been appointed as the new Director General of Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism. She succeeds Manisha Saxena, who has transitioned to the position of Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training within the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions.
This change was facilitated by temporarily filling a vacant Director-level position within the department. With over twenty years of experience in administration, policy development, and international trade negotiations, Sinha brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. Her distinguished career includes significant roles in the Ministries of Textiles, Industry, and Commerce, both at the central level and in Rajasthan.
Her broad experience also encompasses crucial roles in Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs, and Science and Technology. Prior to this appointment, she served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. The ACC’s recent realignment of IAS officers reflects a deliberate strategy to strengthen governance and ensure the effective implementation of policies across various sectors. By appointing experienced officials like Mugdha Sinha to such key positions, the government aims to drive progress and achieve its policy objectives with greater efficiency.
