On April 15, 2021, the Ministry of Tourism signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cleartrip and Ease My Trip as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the Hospitality & Tourism Industry, especially in times of pandemic.
The overall purpose of this MoU is to provide accommodation units that have self-certified on SAATHI (System for Assessment, Awareness, and Training for the Hospitality Industry) on the OTA platform a lot of visibility. Both parties agree to encourage Units to register on NIDHI and thus on SAATHI, as well as to promote local tourism with sufficient safeguards to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The goal is to collect more data on lodging units in order to gain actionable insights and design evidence-based and targeted policy initiatives that encourage healthy, honourable, and sustainable tourism.

Through the MoU, the Ministry of Tourism and Online Travel Companies will work together to facilitate and strengthen strategic and technological co-operation in the tourism sector for the benefit of all parties involved in the specified areas. More MOUs of this kind are planned to be signed in the future in order to boost the hospitality and tourism industries.
