Third Edition of MICHELIN Guide Dubai Unveiled

The prestigious MICHELIN Guide Dubai 2024 was revealed during an illustrious ceremony at the One&Only One Za’abeel. This year, Row on 45 joined the elite group of Dubai’s two MICHELIN Stars restaurants, marking it as the fourth establishment to achieve this accolade in the city.

A Growing Gastronomic Scene

This year’s edition of the MICHELIN Guide Dubai includes 106 restaurants, reflecting a remarkable 17.8% increase from the 2023 selection. This is a significant jump from the guide’s inception in 2022 when it listed 69 restaurants. The growth in the number of restaurants featured is a testament to Dubai’s expanding and diverse culinary scene. The selections were made by MICHELIN’s renowned anonymous inspectors, emphasizing the city’s burgeoning status as a global culinary hub.

Notable mentions include Revelry, a new entrant in the Bib Gourmand category, and the continued recognition of Trèsind Studio and avatāra, among others.

Indian Culinary Excellence

Revelry, an Indian tapas bar by Passion F&B, joins the Bib Gourmand category, adding to the success of its sister establishments Trèsind Studio and avatāra. Trèsind Studio, under the guidance of chef Himanshu Saini, retains its two MICHELIN Stars, while avatāra, led by chef Rahul Rana, maintains its one MICHELIN Star status. Indya by Vineet, another notable Indian restaurant, continues to be a favourite, holding its place in the Bib Gourmand list.

Dubai: A Culinary Capital

Dubai is renowned for its diverse selection of more than 13,000 restaurants and eateries, catering to almost 200 nationalities living in the city. The latest Dubai Gastronomy Industry Report ranks Dubai second globally in terms of restaurant density and as one of the top 10 cities for food lovers.

The emirate’s development as a globally recognized gastronomy hub is further evidenced by numerous awards and initiatives, including being named the No.1 global destination for a third successive year at the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2024 and hosting the annual Dubai Food Festival, which celebrated its 11th edition this year.

MICHELIN Guide: A Legacy of Excellence

As one of the oldest and most prestigious food guides globally, the MICHELIN Guide has been anonymously rating restaurants since the early 1900s. The guide’s three-star system and Bib Gourmand distinctions recognize high-quality cuisine, while the MICHELIN Green Star Awards, introduced in 2020, honour restaurants leading the way in sustainability.

Tourism and Gastronomy: A Symbiotic Relationship

The growth of Dubai’s gastronomic landscape is reflective of the success achieved within the tourism sector. In 2023, Dubai welcomed a record 17.15 million international overnight visitors, a 19.4% year-on-year increase. This upward trajectory continued into 2024, with 8.12 million visitors between January and May, marking a 10% increase from the same period in 2023.
