The 32nd Mango Festival organized by Delhi Tourism captivated the enthusiasm of people from all walks of life, despite unfavourable weather conditions. Over the course of three days, this much-awaited event became a refreshing weekend retreat for Delhites. The festival showcased an impressive array of over 500 mango varieties in various sizes and shapes, leaving attendees in awe of the rich diversity of this beloved fruit.

Mango Eating Competition for Men: A Thrilling Highlight of the Festival

The excitement reached its peak on the second day of the festival with the highly anticipated Mango Eating Competition for Men. The event witnessed extensive participation from enthusiastic men of all ages, filling the crowd with a palpable buzz and thrill. Mohd. Javed emerged as the victor, claiming the first prize of Rs. 3000/- by devouring a whopping 1.194 kg of mango pulp. Mr. Shiraaz secured the second prize, winning Rs. 2000/- with his consumption of 0.920 gms. of mango pulp. The third prize went to Mr. Virendra, who received Rs. 1500/- for consuming 0.858 gms. of mango pulp.

The festival’s main attraction was the extensive range of rare and hybrid mango varieties on display. Delighted visitors encountered mangoes with intriguing names such as Santara, Gulab Zamun, Kala Pahar, Safed Mulgoa, Bombay Peda, and Sirohi. These unfamiliar names served as a testament to the novelty of the mangoes showcased. Notably, one of the highlights was a mango named “KHALI,” weighing a staggering 2 kg. The sight of this rare variety sparked great interest among attendees, who eagerly inquired about its unique attributes.

A Journey of Mangoes: From Orchards to Dilli Haat, Janakpuri

The 32nd Mango Festival provided a plethora of delights for adults and children alike, offering a chance to explore the diverse varieties of mangoes that journeyed from the orchards of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Pusa, New Delhi to Dilli Haat, Janakpuri. Visitors had the opportunity to indulge in the sale of fresh mangoes and mango products, while also participating in engaging activities such as the Mango Quiz and Mango Slogan Writing Contest. The festival further delighted the audience with captivating magic shows, cultural programs, and joy rides for children.
