Seasonal service with three flights a week from Warsaw to Heraklion
Perfect destination for beach holidays and to immerse yourself in the ancient Greek history and mythology
LOT Polish Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, announces further expansion of its route network in the Mediterranean region and will launch new flights to the Greek island of Crete in summer 2026. The seasonal service from the airline’s global hub at Warsaw Chopin Airport will take off on 30 May 2026 and will be offered three times a week – every Monday, Friday and Saturday:
On this route, LOT Polish Airlines operates Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with two service classes on board. The flight time is just under three hours.
Beaches, history and myths
Crete is one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean, attracting more than 6 million tourists this year alone. The destination offers ideal conditions for beach holidays and relaxing breaks, but also boasts mountain landscapes and authentic, quaint villages in the coastal areas. Additionally, Crete is known as the “Island of the Gods” – a reference to the famous and impressive ancient sites of Minoan culture, such as the Palace of Knossos and to the ancient Greek mythology, where Crete plays an essential role. According to legend, it was here that Zeus, father of the gods, was born; the Minotaur creature, half man, half bull, lived in a labyrinth; and Icarus tragically failed in his attempts to fly.
Already the third destination in Greece
For LOT Polish Airlines, Heraklion and Crete will become the third destination being served in Greece. The airline currently flies daily and year-round to Athens and, since summer 2025, to Thessaloniki.
“We are pursuing a sustainable growth strategy and are expanding our route network in a targeted manner,” says Amit Ray, Director India, DACH Markets, Italy and Malta and Head of Global Corporate and Strategic Sales at LOT Polish Airlines. “Heraklion/Crete is thus not only a new and attractive travel option for our guests from India. It is also the latest in a series of new air services we have announced in recent weeks: In 2026, we will also add routes to Almaty, Bologna, Malaga, Porto and San Francisco.”
From India, LOT Polish Airlines flies daily to Warsaw, with nonstop services on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from Delhi and on Sundays and Wednesdays from Mumbai.
