The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), in collaboration with the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), successfully hosted the Korea Tourism Roadshow in Delhi on 6th February 2025. The event, aimed at strengthening relationships with travel trade professionals and industry leaders, comes at a time when Indian tourism to South Korea has surged by 44%, with a record 176,668 Indian visitors in 2024, compared to the previous year.

With a clear vision to enhance outbound travel and facilitate seamless entry for Indian travellers, the roadshow introduced key trade-focused initiatives, including the Korea Premium Travel Consultant (KPTC) program, K-Incentive Scheme 3.0, and MICE support programs.

Key Initiatives Unveiled at the Korea Tourism Roadshow

1. Korea Premium Travel Consultant (KPTC) Program

One of the highlighted programs at the event was the Korea Premium Travel Consultant (KPTC) certification, designed for Indian travel agents specializing in high-end travel to South Korea. The program offers structured training, allowing agents to develop exclusive luxury itineraries featuring premium experiences in Korea.

  • To qualify, travel agents must attend at least three out of four specialized training sessions between February and March 2025.
  • Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of South Korea’s premium offerings, including high-end accommodations, unique cultural experiences, and luxury shopping.
  • Certified KPTC members will receive continuous training, direct support from KTO, and access to exclusive rewards.

The first webinar for the KPTC program is scheduled for 28th February 2025.

2. K-Incentive Scheme 3.0

To further boost outbound travel, KTO introduced the K-Incentive Scheme 3.0, a rewards-based program tailored for top-performing travel agents.

  • Agents booking Korea-bound travellers between April and December 2025 will receive exclusive incentives.
  • Eligible bookings must include at least a one-night stay in Korea, a package valued at a minimum of USD 250 (excluding airfare), and accommodation in a four-star or higher-rated property.
  • Top-performing agents will be rewarded on a case-by-case basis, further motivating the Indian travel trade to push Korea as a preferred destination.

3. MICE Support Programs for Corporate Groups

South Korea is aggressively expanding its MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism sector, making it an attractive destination for corporate travel.

  • KTO’s MICE support programs offer financial assistance for preliminary visits, attractive incentives for large incentive groups, and streamlined visa processes.
  • The initiative is designed to position South Korea as a leading MICE destination, targeting companies planning corporate retreats, business summits, and industry conferences.
  • These programs aim to enhance South Korea’s reputation as a seamless blend of business and leisure travel.

Why South Korea is a Growing Hotspot for Indian Travelers

With the sharp 44% rise in Indian arrivals, South Korea is fast becoming a must-visit destination for Indian tourists. The reasons behind this growing interest include:

Cultural Appeal and K-Wave Influence

  • The global influence of K-Pop, K-Dramas, and Korean cuisine has played a massive role in attracting Indian travellers.
  • Iconic spots like Nami Island, Bukchon Hanok Village, and the vibrant streets of Hongdae and Myeongdong continue to captivate Indian tourists.

Visa-Friendly Policies

  • South Korea has introduced streamlined visa processes for Indian travellers, making it easier to obtain tourist and business visas.
  • Initiatives such as group visas for incentive travel further encourage corporate and leisure travel from India.

Unique and Diverse Experiences

  • From the serene landscapes of Jeju Island to the high-tech metropolis of Seoul, South Korea offers a diverse range of travel experiences.
  • Adventure seekers can explore ski resorts in Gangwon Province, while history enthusiasts can visit ancient sites such as Gyeongbokgung Palace.
