Kerala Tourism has weathered challenges, would focus on touching lives

Travelling, according to Ibn Battuta, leaves you speechless and then transforms you into a storyteller. His knowledge reminds us that travel awakens a world of words and pictures within us, keeping our basic passions alive.

We impact the lives of individuals we’ve never met when we go beyond the borders of our hometowns, states, and countries. We realise how little the world used to be for us. This realisation may have sparked mankind’s wanderlust, which began many years ago.

Today, as we commemorate National Tourism Day in the midst of the pandemic’s third wave, it’s a good opportunity to consider how our travel habits have evolved.

Kerala Tourism has weathered challenges, would focus on touching lives
P. A. Mohammed Riyas is an Indian politician currently serving as the Minister for Public Works Department and Tourism, Government of Kerala.

Kerala’s government wants to serve visitors from all over the world with unique experiences and unforgettable hospitality. As tourism and its opportunities expand, the government aims to make sure that the state and its people profit both directly and indirectly from the industry. The numerous projects that are now being executed and those that are being suggested all strive to achieve this.

The tourist sector is facing significant problems, and all of these discussions are taking place in the context of travel limitations. Kerala, on the other hand, had been ready for any terrible circumstance by implementing procedures and emergency measures across the board.

Kerala has made the concept of immunised tourism centres a reality. To instil trust among tourists and the tourism sector, the state came up with the motto ‘Safe Kerala, Safe Tourism’ in the beginning. With the support of the health department, steps were taken to attain 100% immunisation in all tourism centres around the state. The initiative was tested in the Wayanad town of Vythiri.

The construction of a ‘bio bubble’ system assisted the state in conveying the notion that visiting was completely safe. Some of the innovative items that the state administration may proudly exhibit to tourists were ‘Keravan Kerala,’ the biodiversity circuit, the Malabar literary circuit, the Agri-tourism Network, and in-car eating.

Tourism is an industry that is inextricably related to people’s lives. To guarantee that there is no disconnect, individuals should become stakeholders in tourism. The tourism industry owes a debt of gratitude to the people of the countries on which it depends. Tourism, which is a big contributor to the state’s economy, has a duty for its citizens as well.

This idea is reflected in ‘Keravan Kerala,’ a new product that was just developed to encourage caravan excursions. Travel to hitherto undiscovered regions has become possible thanks to the use of caravans. This would enhance the number of localised rural employment available.

People can open establishments that serve guests local food or encourage traditional art forms. Increased job prospects would draw people closer to tourism, resulting in its expansion, resulting in a win-win situation. With the help of local self-government institutions, Kerala Tourism hopes to develop at least one tourist destination in each local body. In 2022, the first steps toward realising this objective will be taken.

Kerala Tourism’s Agri-tourism Network is another initiative aimed at allowing visitors to learn about farming and related cultures in the state. As part of the network, agricultural tourism, homestead farming, and model farmer farms would be promoted. Farmers should be able to market their produce in new ways as a result of this. The Agri-tourism Network would also assist the next generation in learning about and experiencing both traditional and contemporary farming practices.

Tourism is significantly more than just adapting to changing traveller preferences. Attracting their attention to the land’s and culture’s unique features is also crucial. Kerala’s many destinations each have something unique to offer. Kerala Tourism has envisioned the STREET initiative to tap into this potential and touch the hearts of tourists.

Our goal is to turn the entire state into a tourist destination, giving us a unique spot on the global tourism map. All of this is being done to guarantee that no sector is left neglected and that a tourist culture worthy of world admiration is formed.

The state government is emphasising initiatives that have a good influence on society in numerous ways, are people-centred, and will benefit both visitors and citizens in the long run. Our goal is to build a future in which everyone in the state can proudly represent their home to the rest of the world.
