From hosting multi-day Indian weddings with intricate cultural detailing to curating high-impact corporate events, Hilton Salwa Beach Resort combines world-class infrastructure with authentic hospitality. In this exclusive conversation with Mr. Rishab Sahney, Commercial Director, Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas, shares insights into the resort’s journey, its unique positioning in the destination wedding space, evolving trends, and its vision for shaping the future of luxury celebrations and MICE travel in the region.
To begin with, could you share Hilton Salwa Beach Resort’s journey so far and how it has grown into one of the region’s most sought-after destinations for luxury weddings and MICE events?
In just four years, Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas has become a name that planners associate with large-scale celebrations that run seamlessly. Our location, 90 minutes from Hamad International Airport, combines ease of access with the privacy of 3.5 kilometres of private beach. We’ve invested in building an infrastructure that can host 1,200-guest receptions in the Al Masarra Ballroom one night and intimate villa dinners the next, without compromising quality. The growth has been fuelled by consistent engagement with planners and partners who now see Qatar, and our resort, as a place where complex multi-day events can be delivered with certainty.
What sets HSBR apart in the destination wedding space? Could you walk us through your wedding hosting capabilities—number of guests, venues, scale—and what makes the resort especially attractive for Indian weddings?
Our advantage is the variety of spaces within a single property. The grand Al Masarra Ballroom can host 1,200 guests, while our private beach, Arabian Village courtyards, marina-side decks, and pool terraces give couples the ability to stage every ritual in a setting that feels different. Guests can retreat between functions to their own villa with a garden and pool, or enjoy our spa and water park. This combination of scale, choice, and contained logistics is particularly valuable for Indian weddings, where each event demands its own personality and location.
Can you share a recent example of successfully hosting multiple Indian weddings in a month? How does your team manage logistics, cultural nuances, and guest experiences at such a scale?
A highlight for us was delivering over 15 functions across several Indian weddings within just ten days. Each had its own style and cultural requirements, from traditional mandap setups to themed sangeets. Our teams worked in lockstep with families and planners, managing everything from auspicious timing to varied menu requests, so the experience felt effortless to guests. That level of coordination is possible because our venues, accommodation, and amenities are all within walking distance, which removes the friction often found in multi-venue arrangements.
What are some of the exclusive packages or premium experiences HSBR offers to planners and guests, including wellness add-ons or curated events that elevate destination celebrations?
We work with planners to shape celebrations that reflect their vision, layering in experiences that elevate the stay. That might be a Haldi at the water park, a sunset dolphin cruise for the bridal party, or a private spa day for immediate family. Our wellness, recreation, and dining teams collaborate to make these moments part of the itinerary, so guests leave with memories that go beyond the wedding itself.
How does the resort address seasonality, both in terms of offering affordable windows for weddings and having contingency plans in place for unpredictable weather during outdoor ceremonies?
From October to March, Qatar’s climate makes outdoor ceremonies ideal, whether on the beach or in our gardens. In warmer months, we shift seamlessly into indoor and covered venues — the ballroom, shaded courtyards, and terrace spaces — so the quality of the experience is never compromised. Off-peak seasons also bring added value through promotional rates, which can make a significant difference for large guest counts.
What’s your strategic approach to attracting destination weddings from India and global markets? How do collaborations with planners, tourism boards, influencers, or luxury travel agencies support this vision?
Our approach is rooted in partnerships and presence. We work closely with wedding planners in India, host them on familiarisation trips, and participate in roadshows alongside Qatar Tourism to showcase our capabilities. Social media is used to share unfiltered glimpses of actual events, so planners can see how ideas translate in our spaces. It’s this combination of relationship-building and visible proof that drives enquiries.
Besides weddings, how is HSBR positioned in the MICE segment? What kind of infrastructure and services do you offer to host corporate events, incentive groups, or hybrid meetings?
For corporate events and incentives, we offer the same flexibility and scale that benefit weddings. Our meeting spaces are equipped with state-of-the-art AV and can be configured for everything from product launches to hybrid conferences. Groups can integrate team building at our sports academy or water park, making the business agenda feel less rigid and more
engaging.

With the wedding industry evolving, are you observing a shift toward intimate, high-spend celebrations or trends like green weddings? What sustainable practices has HSBR adopted in response to this demand?
While large weddings remain the norm, we’re seeing more couples explore smaller guest lists with higher spend per person. This often means investing in curated dining, personalised entertainment, and unique experiences for a close circle. There’s also a gradual shift towards mindful choices — sourcing local produce, reducing décor waste — which we support by working with planners to find sustainable options that still meet the brief.
Lastly, what is your long-term vision for Hilton Salwa Beach Resort in shaping the future of destination weddings and luxury MICE travel in the Gulf region and beyond?
Over the next five years, our goal is to make Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas the first call for large, culturally nuanced destination weddings in the Gulf and a reliable base for highperforming incentive travel. We will build on what we already do well and scale it with discipline. A priority is capacity orchestration: turning complex, multiwedding schedules into guestfriendly experiences. The operating standard is what we will replicate and keep refining. We will also protect yearround value. October to March remains our marquee outdoor season, while summer and shoulder months will lean on temperaturecontrolled formats and tech innovations so couples and corporates can plan confidently without compromising on experience.
On content, we are aligning with how celebrations are evolving. We see growing interest in smaller guest counts with higher spend per head and in choices that feel mindful with plantforward menus, reusable décor, smarter production, so we will continue to work with planners to accommodate these preferences while keeping the spectacle intact.
For MICE, the focus is integrated programmes that pair meetings with memorable addons like curated indoor and outdoor activities around our venues, supported by the right technology and service. It is a simple promise: operational certainty, cultural fluency, and experiences that move people.
Is there a message you’d like to share with Indian couples or planners considering a destination wedding at HSBR?
