RAJASTHAN SHOULD FOCUS ON CREATING IMMERSIVE TOURISM EXPERIENCES
— Ms. Shuchi Tyagi, Secretary Tourism, Government of Rajasthan

Tourists today seek experiences rather than simply visiting destinations, and Rajasthan should focus on creating immersive, high-quality tourism offerings through stronger collaboration with private stakeholders. Backed by improved infrastructure, enhanced connectivity and targeted marketing campaigns promoting wildlife, wellness and adventure tourism, the State is working to position tourism as a key driver of economic growth while encouraging visitors to explore both iconic attractions as well as lesser-known destinations. This was stated by Secretary Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, Ms. Shuchi Tyagi, while addressing the curtain-raiser for the 6th edition of the Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart (RDTM) as well as the Marwar Travel Mart, Jodhpur, at ITC Rajputana, Jaipur.

She further said that Tourism is Rajasthan’s greatest strength as it also creates livelihoods, businesses and jobs for the local communities. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma, the State is committed to creating a favourable environment for sustainable growth of tourism, she added.

She added that the Tourism Department and the Government of Rajasthan are working on a financial incentive policy to promote Shekhawati’s fresco art and homestays through travel marts. Sharing details about the programme, President, Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR), Mr. Surendra Singh Shahpura, stressed the need to move beyond conventional sightseeing by integrating Rajasthan’s vibrant local fairs and festivals into travel itineraries of travel agents, enabling tourists to experience the State’s rich cultural traditions firsthand. He also called for greater promotion of Rajasthan’s polo heritage, noting that the State’s polo season now extends for nearly five months. He also urged greater focus on promoting Rajasthan’s Tier-2 and Tier-3 destinations, moving beyond the traditional Golden Triangle circuit.
