CSMIA: Passenger Traffic Picks Up Pace Ahead of Festive Season; Witnessed Over 15 Lakh Travellers

With the festive season approaching and nations around the world loosening travel restrictions, August saw a significant increase in the number of passengers passing through Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).

In August of this year, over 1.5 million people flew in and out of CSMIA, compared to 4 lakh passengers in August of 2020. Throughout the pandemic, the airport has worked relentlessly to maintain continuous connectivity for travelers while also providing a safe sanctuary for its passengers and employees.

In August, CSMIA welcomed a total of roughly 15,87,150 passengers on flights to domestic and foreign locations throughout the festive season. This month, the airport has served approximately 1,500 passengers.

There were 14,02,369 domestic passengers and 1,84,787 international passengers. In the month of August, 7,85,479 passengers arrived at CSMIA, with 8,01,677 passengers departing for local and foreign destinations.

The most popular domestic destinations from CSMIA were Delhi, Bangalore, and Goa, with 2,42,085, 1,11,026, and 95,089 passengers, respectively.

While Doha was the most popular international destination, with 41,410 people flying in and out of CSMIA. Dubai and Male came in second and third, with 37,126 and 18,190 passengers traveling abroad from Mumbai, respectively. On internal routes, Indigo, Air India, and Vistara carried the most passengers, while Qatar Airways, Indigo, and Air India served the bulk of international passengers.

With festivals such as Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, and Onam happening on weekends in August, the CSMIA saw an increase in passengers traveling over the weekend.

During the August 2021 weekend, CSMIA recorded Goa as the most traveled destination, with 22,078 passengers, followed by Srinagar, Jammu, and Leh. Furthermore, with several festivals and the holiday season approaching, an increase in the number of people traveling for leisure locally and abroad is projected in the coming months.

Because of the increased passenger movement as a result of the loosening of restrictions, the majority of Indian states and international nations now demand a negative RT-PCR certificate.

CSMIA has erected various counters of testing facilities for international and domestic travelers at Terminal 2 to make travel more convenient.

CSMIA has introduced additional facilities and explored numerous avenues to accommodate and reduce stay time for passengers awaiting reports since its inception in September 2020. For those who need a rapid answer, CSMIA offers an expedited test that provides a prompt and accurate diagnostic in just 13 minutes.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, CSMIA has adopted a number of SOPs, including preventive measures mandated by health and government agencies to protect passengers and airport workers.

Furthermore, as a result of statewide vaccination programs, the number of immunized passengers is increasing, resulting in an increase in demand for air travel. The airport is constantly trying to ensure the well-being and safety of its passengers, as well as providing them with high-quality standards and a world-class travel experience. CSMIA tries to deliver the greatest services and facilities to its passengers in order to provide a flawless and memorable journey.
