Mumbai: Purnima or ‘full moon’ in Bali is a special day for ceremonies and festivities. Temples all over the island celebrate this special day by hosting splendid ceremonies. Balinese believe that Purnima is a propitious day when the Gods descend to the earth and give their blessings. According to the Balinese calendar, full moon marks the 15thday of the month whilst the last day of each month called Tilem, which means ‘dark moon.’
At The Oberoi, Bali, the same celebration is performed at the resort’s temple on this sacred day, where the staff gathers together to offer their prayers to God. Guests staying at The Oberoi, Bali can join the ceremony along with other worshippers at the authentic Hindu temple at the resort. Dressed in Balinese sarongs, guests will receive a traditional Sanskrit blessing for health and prosperity from a Pemangku (Hindu priest), which will be accompanied by flower offerings.
The experience will conclude with a romantic dinner on the moonlit shore. The dinner experience is chargeable and needs to be booked in advance.
