Cathay Pacific Airways’ invests over HK$100bn to boost Hong Kong’s international aviation connectivityratings
Over the next seventh year, Cathay Pacific plans to spend more than 100 billion HK dollars, by focusing on expanding Hongkong as an international aviation city. This huge amount will strengthen its aircraft, interior products, lounges and digital platform or services, and leverage the Three-Runway System to boost the city’s aviation prospects.
Patrick Healy Cathay Group Chairman struck a positive note referring to the opportunities that are lined up for Hong Kong as it transformed into the aviation industry center. Investments; Healy stated that major investments mean the concern for the economic progress of Hong Kong and the desire to become a world-class service brand.
Integral to this investment is the purchasing of 30 Airbus A330-900 with an option of purchasing 30 more. New planes starting from 2028 will improve regional and long-haul flights as part of assisting Cathay in achieving its carbon neutrality scheme, 2050.
Besides, upcoming changes also encompass introducing new cabin products in Cathay over the course of the three subsequent years, namely the Aria Suite in Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts and overhauling First class and Business class. Free Wi-Fi for the Business class and Diamond will also be offered.
Cathay Pacific will also introduce more improved and new status lounges in Hong Kong, Beijing, and a new one in New York as a proof of its globalization of operations. The move is part of its ongoing expansion plans that include the carrier’s plan of making it to 100 global destinations by the year 2025 while at the same time providing premium service. By such an ambitious plan, Cathay Pacific is well positioned to enhance more the position of Hong Kong as one of the most important international aviation centers.
