A350 Ultra Long-Haul Debut with Delhi-New York JFK Flights from November 1, 2024
Air India is set to transform the passenger experience on its strategically important routes with the introduction of the flagship A350-900 aircraft. Starting from November 1, 2024, the A350 will operate on the Delhi-New York JFK route, marking the debut of Air India’s ultra-long-haul services. This new development promises to enhance the travel experience for passengers with state-of-the-art amenities and a focus on comfort and convenience.
Delhi-Newark Flights to be Served with A350 from January 2, 2025
Continuing its commitment to elevating the passenger journey, Air India will also commence Delhi-Newark flights with the A350 from January 2, 2025. This expansion underscores the airline’s dedication to offering superior service and cutting-edge aircraft on key international routes, ensuring that passengers enjoy a world-class flying experience.
Introducing Premium Economy on Key Routes
For the first time, Air India is introducing its Premium Economy class on the Delhi-New York JFK and Delhi-Newark routes with the deployment of the A350. This new class will feature 24 wide seats arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration, providing extra legroom and various enhancements. This upscale cabin is designed to offer a more comfortable and luxurious experience for passengers seeking additional comfort and amenities.
Other Cabins and Latest Signature Experiences
The A350 aircraft is equipped with 28 private suites in Business Class, arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, offering full-flat beds, direct aisle access, sliding privacy doors, and personal wardrobes. The Economy Class cabin features 264 spacious seats in a 3-4-3 configuration, ensuring comfort and convenience for all passengers.
All seats across the cabins come with the latest-generation Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment (IFE) system and HD screens, offering more than 2,200 hours of entertainment content worldwide. Passengers can enjoy various movies, TV shows, and audio content, enhancing their in-flight experience.

Upgraded Cabin Interiors on Other U.S. Routes
With the deployment of the A350, 60% of all Air India flights to the U.S. will feature new or upgraded cabin interiors. Over the past few months, Air India has progressively replaced its legacy aircraft with newer models on other U.S. routes, ensuring a significantly improved flying experience. These upgraded aircraft feature enhanced seats and in-flight entertainment systems.
Three-Class Configured Boeing 777-200LR and 777-300ER
Air India now operates its three-class configured Boeing 777-200LR on all non-stop flights between India (Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru) and San Francisco with upgraded cabin interiors, except for a 3x weekly Delhi-San Francisco service. Each of these aircraft features 28 private suites with full-flat beds in Business, 48 wide seats in Premium Economy with extra legroom, and 212 seats in Economy, along with updated IFE systems.
Additionally, Air India operates a three-class configured Boeing 777-300ER on all flights from Mumbai to New York JFK and Newark. This aircraft features 8 luxurious First Class suites, 40 full-flat beds in Business, 280 seats in Economy, and updated IFE systems.

Air India’s Orders for A350 and Aircraft in Commercial Service
Since the beginning of 2024, Air India has taken delivery of six A350-900 aircraft, deploying them on flights within India and the Delhi-Dubai route for regulatory compliance and crew familiarization purposes. Starting September 1, 2024, Air India will also begin flying the A350-900 to London Heathrow from Delhi. The airline has an order of 34 additional A350s with Airbus, including 20 A350-1000s.
Air India’s U.S. Presence
Air India currently flies to five destinations in the United States: New York JFK, Newark, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco. The airline operates 51x weekly flights to the United States from India, providing extensive connectivity and convenience for passengers travelling between the two countries.
