Rajasthan Draws Nearly 62 Million Tourist Visits in First Quarter of 2026

Faith drives domestic tourism, and heritage and wildlife remain the biggest attractions for overseas visitors

Rajasthan recorded nearly 62 million tourist visits during the January to March quarter of 2026, reinforcing its position as one of India’s leading tourism destinations, according to the Department of Tourism.

The State registered 61.99 million tourist visits during the first quarter, including 61.29 million domestic visitors and 698,458 international visitors.

Joint Director, Department of Tourism, Rajasthan, Mr. Daleep Singh Rathore, said tourism data for the first quarter reflects two distinct travel trends. Domestic travellers continued to prefer religious and pilgrimage destinations, while international visitors were primarily attracted by Rajasthan’s forts, palaces, UNESCO World Heritage monuments, cultural heritage and wildlife.

Religious tourism remained the largest contributor to domestic travel. Khatu Shyam Ji Temple in Sikar emerged as the most visited destination with nearly 6.8 million pilgrims during the three months. It was followed by Kaila Devi Temple in Karauli with 4.74 million visitors and Sanwaliya Ji Temple in Chittorgarh with 2.87 million visitors. Pushkar ranked fourth among the most visited domestic destinations.

Jaisalmer accounted for five of the State’s top ten domestic tourist destinations, including Jaisalmer Fort, Ramdevra, Sam Sand Dunes, Patwon Ki Haveli and Tanot Mata Temple, reflecting the district’s appeal across pilgrimage, heritage and desert tourism. Ajmer Sharif Dargah also featured among the top ten destinations, highlighting Rajasthan’s diverse spiritual landscape.

Among international visitors, Amer Palace in Jaipur topped the list with 91,422 tourist visits. It was followed by Jantar Mantar in Jaipur, Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, City Palace in Udaipur and Saheliyon Ki Bari in Udaipur. Ranthambore National Park continued to remain one of the State’s leading wildlife attractions for overseas travellers.

Other popular destinations among foreign tourists included Jagdish Temple in Udaipur, Chand Baori in Abhaneri, Jaswant Thada in Jodhpur and the Ranakpur Jain Temple, reflecting sustained international interest in Rajasthan’s heritage, architecture, culture and biodiversity.

Mr. Rathore said the latest figures demonstrate that Rajasthan has developed into a diversified tourism destination offering religious tourism, heritage experiences, wildlife, desert landscapes and cultural attractions. This broad tourism portfolio continues to support the State’s economy and strengthen Rajasthan’s position in the global tourism market.
